The test results range from 1 to 5, 5 being the highest score. If a student scores a 5 on an
AP test, he or she has a high chance of receiving college credit for that particular subject.
If this occurs, the student will not have to re-take that same subject upon college matriculation
which can also place him or her as a candidate for early graduation. In addition, the student
may also opt to double major, which his or her schedule will permit. However, for the sciences,
such as biology, physics, and chemistry, students may not be able to opt out of any of these
subjects in regarding to the difficulty level. If a student receives a 4, depending on the college
or university, he or she may also receive credit for that particular subject.
After taking the test, if the student expects that he or she may receive a score lower than
expected, the test can be cancelled through AP Services on or before June 15th.

If a student follows through with this decision, no record is maintained.
AP score 5 is impressive when a student is going through the college admissions process.
The possibility of gaining acceptance into a certain university will increase.
